Homework: Next Mon/Tues we are having our 1920's party in class! If you are looking for some extra credit, you may bring food OR dress up in 1920's attire :)

Journal #4: What can we do as a country to include more immigrant/minority groups? As a school?

In Class: Today we finished up your packets!!!!! Make sure that everything is filled out :) I also passed out a study guide-- make sure that you go through the study guide and MARK YOUR PACKETS. I will be looking for this when you turn your packets in!

Homework: Make sure that packets are ready to turn in next class and take your test

WW1: Review (highlight the following terms in your notes, and study them)
1.     The 4 causes of WW1 & why WW1 started
2.     Know why and when the US entered WW1
3.     Know the different alliances and who was on what side
4.     Know some example of: weapons, diseases, anti-immigrant hysteria,
5.     What were Wilson’s 2 big jobs during the war and how did he accomplish these?
6.     How did the US prepare for WW1?
7.     What country gave up and when?
8.     Know the death totals of: total killed in WW1, what countries had the highest death totals, American death total, flu epidemic total
9.     Know these things about Wilson: his slogan in the 1916 election, he thoughts on the war, why he entered the war, what are his 14 points, what is the League of Nations, weaknesses of the Treaty of Versailles
10.  How or why does WW1 affect us today?
11.  Know the Map of Europe/Nations involved in WW1

12.  Make sure your packet is complete (1. Notes in class 2. Learning Targets (I will check to see that you highlighted your notes and will assume you studied them)

Jan 21/22

Journal: What would be the hardest thing for you to sacrifice? Why?

In Class: Today we did a rationing activity (yellow sheet in packet) If you were absent come talk to me about how to make this up :) We also started section 3 of your notes 'Home Front' and talked about what was going on in America during the war! We didn't quite finish so we will finish section 3 next class.

Homework: Make sure that your packet is caught up--- everything should be filled out except section 4 of your notes and the LT guide for days 5,6,7 which we will finish up next time.  REMEMBER that your test and packets will be due the 27/28 which is next week!!!!!

Jan 19/20

Journal #2: What do you think would bring the US into another World War? What would happen in that type of war now?

In Class: Today we did section 2 of your guided notes--- talking about what the US did in the war. We also looked at pieces of Propaganda and filled out the peach page in your packet. If you were absent, come in and see me during intervention to look at the pictures.

Homework: Make sure that your LT guide is filled out through Day 4 :)

Journal: What do you think would be the BEST and WORST thing about being in the trenches?

In Class: Today in class we finished up section 1 of your notes.
**It is important that you understand WHY the US entered WWI
We also looked at some primary documents written about the trenches in WWI (this is the green paper in your packet) If you were absent, come see me during intervention to pick up a primary source document.

Homework: Make sure that your Learning Target guide is filled out through day 3 as well as the map at the end of your notes! You should have labeled the 2 alliances in WWI.

GRADE UPDATE

Lovely Students, 

Your grades are totally  up-to-date.  For 2nd term, they cannot go down from here.  They can only go up...... IF YOU BRING IN YOUR WORK BEFORE 2:15PM TOMORROW WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13TH :)

In Class: Over the past 2 days we've done 2 simulations in class---- one on alliances and one on trench warfare; if you missed, you really missed out #funtimes.  We've filled out section 1 of your notes #1-8 (blue notes page #1).  Make sure that your LT guide is filled out through Day 2!!!!!!!

Homework: MAKE SURE that you have checked PowerSchool and have all your stuff in to me ASAP.  The deadline for late work is TOMORROW WEDNESDAY JAN 13TH @ 2:15 PM. no exceptions.

In Class: Today we finished watching 'Iron Jawed Angels'-- I hope that you were able to recognize some of the reforms that took place ie. women's rights, prison reform, segregation, education! We also turned your packets in :)
