Dec 9/10

Today we finished up "Una Mejor Vida".  We discussed the similarities between immigration of the past with immigration today. My hope is that you see that immigration is about people, not numbers or statistics but people.  This affects people in your community, school, and classroom.  Thank you for being respectful and listening to your classmates stories and opinions :)

We also turned the Immigration Packets in!!!!!!!!

Dec 3-7

WELCOME TO ELLIS ISLAND!

Today you presented your personal migration stories (my favorite project of the year :)) I hope that while listening to your classmates presentations, you have gained a greater appreciation for the 'Melting Pot' that America is, and the many cultures and customs that we have today.

We will wrap up the unit comparing immigration of the past with immigration today; as we compare and contrast these time periods, my hope is that you will gain a greater appreciation for those that came before.... and of course to remember that immigration deals with PEOPLE not numbers or statistics
