September 30/October 1

Today we got our new packets!! Unit 3
Project: The project for this unit will be to make a collage over the 5 sections we cover in class-- this is the last page in your packet (white paper) also found under the unit 3 tab.  Each section needs 5 graphics that represents the topic. I have some samples if you would like to see one. 
 TEST: I handed back your last test..... I am a little disappointed; next time please use your study guides. Below is how you must do your test corrections: 

1. Question that was missed
2.    Why you chose the answer
3.    Correct answer
4.    EXPLANATION of why this is the correct answer
5.    Sources—where did you find this info? Must be credible (Wikipedia is not a credible source, use packet, book, PowerPoints etc.)

Video: We started story of us: Westward and watched section1 (green page in packet) 


Activity: you made maps of the US to help you better understand Westward Expansion- if you were absent come see me for the materials.

Journal: What form of government is better; a REPUBLIC or a DEMOCRACY? Why?

In Class: Today we finished up the guided notes! Next class period your packet is due! Make sure that you have your journals, learning target guide, all notes and activities finished! The 'Elections 2012' page in your packet will be extra credit--- the PowerPoint is here on the blog under unit 2.

Homework: Make sure your packet is finished! AND study for the test!!! If you didn't get a study guide come see me :)

Journal: Do you think the colonists would have won the Revolutionary War without the help of foreigners?

In Class: Today we worked on your note packet-- pages 6,7 and the top portion of 8. Make sure that your Learning Target Guide is filed out through day 5! We also went over your DBQ Test.  You guys did a great job interpreting the documents! Your essays needed some work on the Thesis, Explanations, and Conclusions.  Make sure you aren't only telling me WHAT the document is, but WHY it is important!

Journal: Do you think Colonial leaders were motivated by selfish or ideological reasons?

In Class: We finished up page 1 in your packet (blue sheets) #19-33---- use powerpoint to help you finish this under the unit 2 tab. Today we also  learned about the Declaration of Independence.
KEY POINTS: life, liberty, pursuit of happiness; if the government is not protecting these rights, the people have the right to a new government. We wrote break up letters to Great Britain today as well.... you can find this under the unit 2 tab.

Homework: make sure that your learning target guide is filled out for day 3!
****Also the DEBATE is due next class period!!!! Fri/Mon

In Class: Today we learned about taxation without representation using candy :) We also started your new note packet (blue page 1) answering questions 1-17 **Use PowerPoint found under unit 2 tab.  We also started watching the John Adams movie---- this is the green sheet in your packet

Journal: Where were you on Sept 11, 2001? What do you remember about this day, or what were you told?

In Class: If you are an odd day class we learned about terrorism and filled out the first purple page in your packets! If you are an even day class you had a sub and watched a video... come talk to me and I can get you the link and video notes!

Homework: You may start on your Debate Paper! (white page at the end of your packet)..... and of course  enjoy your weekend :)
