Journal: How should America respond to an attack such as Pearl Harbor?

In class: We watch sections 2-3 of story of us, and took notes on Chapter 17, section 1 of your notes.  We also read 2 eye witness accounts of the attack on Pearl Harbor, one from an American perspective, and the other from the Japanese perspective.  If you were absent, come see me and I will give you the material to complete this assignment.

**REMEMBER: you have 30 flashcards for this unit that will be due April 16/17, along with your test (essay).  Start working on them now so you can enjoy your spring break :)

We learned about the Holocaust; You will need to fill out section 3 of your notes

Journal #2: Tell me everything you know about Germany during WWII

In class: We finished Chapter 16 section 1 +2 of your notes! We also played a relay game reviewing the dictators in Europe.

Homework: Be thinking about which topic you want to write about for you paper and get started on your flashcards! 

March 18/19

Journal: What makes someone a DANGEROUS leader?

In class: You made your new packets! If you lose this packet, you will be responsible for printing out a new one.  We took notes on Chapter 16 section 1.

I also handed out the test for this unit; you will be writing a paper choosing from 6 topics, this needs to be completed at home as homework and will be due April 16/17.  Come see for instructions.

Your project for this unit will be to create 30 flashcards, using your packet or terms that we discussed in class. Use this opportunity to research things that are interesting to you! This is also be due April 16/17

March 16/17

Today in class:
You finished reading the Compare/Contrast Great Depression with the Great Recession and filled out the worksheet in your packet

You turned in your packets + 4 journals!

You took your test- the Socratic Seminar paper.... If you were absent you MUST turn that in to me before next week! 

March 12/13

Journal: Why do artists make art?

In Class: We finished up your note packet! YAY and did a photo walk looking at your classmates interpretations of the Great Depression; you will need to fill out the photo walk page in your packet.  If you were absent you will need to come in during intervention (you must make this up before you turn in your packets! So before March 16/17 to look at pictures)
*I was very impressed with the quality of work! GREAT JOB :)

Homework: Study for your tests.... ie. read the story make connections between the story and the Great Depression, come prepared to ask questions and respond to others! 

March 10/11

Journal: How do you think we should fix a poor/weak economy?

Class: We finished Chapter 15 section 1-2 of your notes, as well as section 3 of the poster that you have been working on in class, and the story of Us video notes!

Remember that your picture project is due next class period! If you will not be here, you MUST make arrangements to get those assignments into me! 

**TOMORROW MORNING AT 8AM  IS THE DEADLINE FOR ANY LATE WORK! 

March 6/9

Today in class:

Your group filled out column 2 on your chart (effects of the Great Depression)

We filled out Section 3 of your notes, and watched the Hoover Dam and Dust Bowl section of the Story of Us notes.  I also handed out an article to read *** this will take place of your test. Come see me and I will get you a copy.

REMEMBER: Your picture project is due March 12/13!!!! If you will be absent, you MUST turn this in before you leave! 

March 4/5

Journal: What would you do if your family were in the Great Depression? How would you help? 

In class: We filled out section 2 of your notes as well as the yellow page in your packet (simulation) If you were not here for the simulation your alternate assignment is to watch this video clip 

and write me 2 paragraphs about what you learned, how you felt, etc. 

Homework: GET started on your picture project! 

Feb 25/March 1

Journal: Do you think it is possible for someone to have too much wealth? why/why not?

In class: We got our new packets today!!! GREAT DEPRESSION.  I also introduced your project for this unit.  It will be due on March 12/13.  IF YOU WILL BE ABSENT, YOU MUST TURN IT IN BEFORE THE DUE DATE.   This will go on this terms grades, no makeups etc.
We filled out Chapter 14 section 1 of your notes, and watched section 1 of Story of Us.

Homework: If you were absent last class period you will need to make up the test and turn in your packet before Thursday of this week!
